PEM was founded in 1947, in the Parisian area by M. Maurice FAVARD. The company PEM was originally treating pieces on rack and doing barrel plating, to finally concentrate on reel to reel plating.

The development of the activity and the orientation towards reel to reel electrolytical surface treatment of this family company have pushed M. Favard to open two supplementary production units in Haute-Loire.
The Siaugues Saint Romain unit was opened in 1965, followed in 1978 by the Saugues unit (formerly named ALOXEL).

In 1982, the group grows again with VIMECA, mechanical and plastic unit, dedicated to the construction work to surface treatment.
SOFIPEM was created in 1990. It is the financial holding of the group, service provider in the commercial field.

In July 2001, PEM, ALOXEL and VIMECA merge into a sole and same PEM, still "driven" by SOFIPEM. Each company becomes a production unit of the PEM group.

In January 2002, creation of a "Joint Venture" with a Spanish plater located in the area of Barcelona, by aquisition of a majority stake.

In June 2006, PEM sells its semi-conductor activity to the company DIEHL POWER ELECTRONIC and can again concentrate itself on the tradional activity of surface treatment with an electro-technical use, mainly for the sectors of the connectic, the mecatronic and the electrical construction.
